European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
M&D (Leisure) Ltd, the Scotland-based theme park operator has entered administration and on 23 April 2020, it made 165 of its 170 employees redundant with immediate effect. A statement by the company said that after several financially challenging years, the Covid-19 epidemic and the cancellation of the summer season have made the business untenable. The administrators added that it was impossible to sell the company and promised that they would work with the Scottish authorities to support the people who had lost their jobs.
M&D Leisure operates ‘Scotland’s Theme Park’, which opened in Motherwell, near Glasgow in 1996. The park contains rollercoasters, water and fairground rides, an arcade, an indoor tropical house and a theatre.
