European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
GKN Aerospace has announced its plan to dismiss up to 350 in Trollhättan where the company produces engines for aircrafts and space rockets. Up to 200 white-collar employees and 150 blue-collar employees risk losing their jobs. According to the company, the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on demand for aircraft engines which is expected to remain low for a long time.
A representative of a trade union that represents white-collar workers argued that this decision did not come as a surprise, but they had in fact expected the notice for redundancy to cover a larger part of the workforce. According to the company, GKN Aerospace is a global company with 18,000 employees in 14 countries. They produce aerostructures and engine systems. The company employs approximately 2,000 in Trollhättan.
GKN Aerospace acquired the Volvo group's aircraft engine business in 2012.

GKN Aerospace has concluded negotiations with trade unions and will dismiss 260 employees. 150 blue-collar workers and 110 white-collar workers will lose their jobs. In addition, all consultants and fixed-term employees will also lose their jobs. No information is currently available regarding the number of dismissed consultants and fixed-term employees.
