European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Spanish toll management company Abertis has announced a collective dismissal plan for its subsidiaries Acesa, Invicat y Abertis Autopistas de España to be implemented in August, affecting to 160 workers over the 800 employees of these three subsidiaries. Specifically, 110 employees of Acesa will be affected, 38 of Invicat and 12 from Abertis Autopistas de España. The restructuring will affect toll staff and technical and administrative support staff. The company argues that the decision is caused by the decrease in activity on motorways due to the COVID-19, by a forecast of decreased mobility also in 2021 and by the increase in the use of electronic tolling. CCOO, UGT and USO unions reject the reasons and the number of jobs to be cut. This announcement comes after the company implemented another collective dismissal at the beginning of 2020.
