Description
Dyson, the British multinational engineering company has announced that it will cut 600 customer service and retail jobs across the UK, reducing the size of its UK workforce by 15%.
A spokesperson for the company said the redundancies were due to the COVID-19 crisis, which prompted consumers to shop online, making it necessary for the company to change how it engages with its customers. The spokesperson emphasised that the firm did not use the UK government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme to save jobs.
Dyson was founded in 1991 - it designs and manufactures household appliances such as vacuum cleaners, hair dryers and fans. The company is best known for developing the bagless vacuum cleaner.
