German automotive company Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland, a subsidiary of Daimler, has announced that it will create 300 jobs at its production facility in Jawor (Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, Poland). The factory specialises in the production of engines and electric batteries for Mercedes-Benz. The source reports the company has invested over PLN 3 billion (€654 million) in the construction of the new factory since 2016. The factory has been operating since November 2019, and currently employs 1,000 staff (40% of the crew is female). The site is said to follow principles of industry 4.0 with automated and digitalised production. At the end of September 2020, the first production line for electric batteries was launched with two further lines being planned.
Daimler is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany; it owns or has shares in a number of car, bus, truck and motorcycle brands including Mercedes-Benz.
