European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Spanish railway public company Renfe, which operates freight and passenger trains, has announced a public call for 300 vacancies for permanent employees. These new employees will form part of the manufacturing, maintenance and repair of railway components department. Specifically, 110 employees will work in the mechanical adjustment unit, 80 in electricity - electronics, 60 in railway rolling stock, 21 in boiler/sheet metal/welding, 17 in machines and tools, 8 in supply and 4 in painting. The salary for these new employees will be a minimum of €1,150 net per month for the lower categories.
The deadline for applying for these jobs is 16 July 2021. As of August 2021, it is still not clear when the recruitment will be finished.
Renfe has experienced several restructuring events in Spain. The company created 600 jobs in 2018, 400 jobs in 2016, and 150 jobs in July 2015. Meanwhile, the company announced collective dismissal plans to cut 650 jobs in October 2015 and 350 jobs in 2013.
