European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Norwegian food delivery company Foodora has announced to hire 2,000 couriers this fall, in addition to the 4,000 couriers they already employ. The reason behind the hiring is the increase in deliveries during winter. Foodora is also marked by high turnover, especially in winter where working conditions are harsh, which might be another reason for hiring.
Most of the couriers in Foodora are freelancers and self-employed, not employees. It is uncertain whether the new couriers will be hired as employees or engaged as freelancers or self-employed. Probably it will be a mix of the different forms of employment.
Foodora has also expanded its business model and opened stores in 9 cities in Norway. The company now deliver food from these stores in addition to food from restaurants in more than 20 cities in Norway. This might also be a reason for the expansion. The unemployment rate in Norway is low, which might make it difficult to hire people, according to the Director of Communication.
Foodora is a German company owned by DeliveryHero, operating in several countries in Europe. The main headquarter of the company is in Stockholm.
