European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Husqvarna, the Swedish manufacturer of forest and garden equipment, has initiated cooperation negotiations with a plan to dismiss 1,000 people. The company has not yet specified in which geographical areas the dismissals are expected to take place.
The planned dismissals are part of larger savings package aimed at improving the company's efficiency following deteriorating profits. The company is also moving away from gasoline-fueled products towards more electrical and battery-driven ones. Investments required for this shift are partially funded by the reduced personnel costs.
Husqvarna is a multi-national company with around 14,000 employees worldwide. In Sweden, the company employs 3,000 people out of which 2,500 are located in the municipality of Huskvarna.
