Description
Janssen Pharmaceutica, the Belgian branch of the multinational Johnson & Johnson group has announced it will dismiss between 185 and 200 employees within its Belgian division. The job cuts will take place in the research and development department.
According to the company management, the planned layoffs are partly caused by the current economic conditions. As the management expects these conditions to deteriorate further in the future.
Trade unions are surprised by the decision of the company management as there were few indications that such a decision was at hand. It is also very rare within the company that this many people are dismissed at once.
Update 30/03/2023
The number of dismissals was reduced after negotiations with the trade unions as is stipulated by the Renault Law. Leading to 154 dismissals in total.
