European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Sandvik is a Finnish company involved in the production of tools and machinery. In a statement on the official website the company stated that it intends to concentrate its activities in the Tampere site, and planned to close the Turku plant. The unusual source regarding a backshoring from China to Finland does not provide further details regarding the company's motivation for the move, or potential effects on employment.
