Schneider Electric has announced it will stop parts of its production activities in Ukkel, with 85 of its approximately 550 employees in losing their jobs. They will transfer them to other sites in Europe.
Concretely, employees within the division producing electric equipment like light switches, sockets, etc. are at risk of losing their jobs. The company management has stated this operation is needed to improve the competitiveness of the company. They also stated that solutions will be sought for the employees affected and accompanying measures will be instated.
At the same time the company management stated that it will be investing in a new headquarters in Belgium (Anderlecht).
