European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As announced on 7 December 2023, the German parcel delivery firm DPD Deutschland will be cutting up to 1,400 jobs within the next 2 years due to internal restructuring.
The restructuring plan comes in an attempt to improve the company’s competitiveness and long-term performance. DPD Deutschland has been facing a significant reduction in deliveries since the delivery boom during the COVID-19 pandemic. CEO Björn Scheel is aware of the company’s responsibility and intends to make the job reduction as socially responsible as possible.
DPD Deutschland is the second largest parcel delivery company in Germany and has approximately 9,600 employees.
