European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Västra Götaland, Sweden, has announced that they must reduce expenditures by SEK 1.7 billion [approx. €152 million] for 2024’s budget. The saving measures will, among other things, lead to a reduction of 2,000 jobs.
The hospital administration is hoping that this staff-reduction will be done through natural business replacement, i.e., through age-related retirements and employees leaving by their own admission.
This announcement comes after news that Sahlgrenska University Hospital had a negative budget balance of SEK 1.2 billion [€107 million]. Currently, Sahlgrenska University Hospital employs 17,000 employees, and it is unclear as of now exactly what staff will be affected.
