European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
German home appliance manufacturer Miele has announced that it plans to cut about 2,000 jobs worldwide and transfer 700 from Germany to Poland. The background of the job cuts is a global efficiency programme called the ‘Miele Performance Programme’.
So far, the company has announced that the layoffs will affect about 1,300 jobs in Germany. The sources also report that Miele has signed a new collective agreement with the local trade unions. The restructuring programme is due to a decline in demand after the COVID-19 pandemic. Miele has been operating since 1899. Currently, the company has 15 production sites and employs 22,700 people worldwide.
