European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The French manufacturer of licence-free cars, Ligier, will cut 125 of the 145 jobs in the Vendée region, with offers of internal mobility. The factory, acquired from Beneteau in 2008, will be put up for sale. Only a small support team will remain in the site. Production at the site will be transferred back to the Abrest plant in the Allier department, the Group's historic headquarters. This site has space available to accommodate production from the Vendée plant. The transfer is planned for next September, following negotiations with employees.
Ligier employs a total of 428 people at the two sites. The group, which has forecast stable sales of €190m in 2024, is facing increased competition from major manufacturers such as Stellantis and Renault. Production at the Vendée site has fallen drastically, from 45 vehicles a day in 2023 to just 10 at present.
