European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Onsemi CZ, a subsidiary of an American semiconductor manufacturer, has announced to cut 170 jobs out of a total of 2,244 across its operations in the Czech Republic. Most of them, i.e. 149 employees, are to leave the Rožnov pod Radhoštěm plant in April 2025.
According to union representatives, the layoffs should affect various professions. The reason is the pressure on work efficiency and also cost reduction.
On the other hand, the company is planning a giant investment project worth of almost CZK 46 billion (€ 1.8 billion). The project is also expected to be supported by incentives from the Czech government and the European Commission.
Last week, the parent company announced that it is planning to lay off almost 2,400 employees worldwide in 2025. The reason is a drop in sales.
