Description
PostNord, a Nordic logistics company operating in the postal and parcel delivery sector, has announced the termination of approximately 150 administrative positions, predominantly at the company's headquarters located at Alfaset in Oslo. Additionally, around 300 employees involved in the express and courier services are impacted by the discontinuation of these services.
The restructuring initiative is aimed at refocusing on core areas such as parcel and logistics services to enhance competitiveness in a challenging market environment. The restructuring process is expected to unfold over several months, with specific details regarding affected positions yet to be finalised. The company has initiated the process of identifying the employees who will be affected by the layoffs. PostNord is also in discussions with another company regarding the sale of its InNight and self-transport divisions, which may result in some of the 300 affected courier employees transitioning to the new employer, contingent upon the outcome of these negotiations. PostNord has acknowledged the difficulty of the decision and emphasised the necessity of the restructuring to strengthen its market position. The company has committed to maintaining close dialogue with trade unions throughout the process to address concerns and mitigate the impact on employees.
PostNord is a Nordic logistics company formed through the merger of the former postal services of Denmark and Sweden. PostNord recently announced the dismissal of 1500 employees in Denmark PostNord 2025-DK. As part of the restructuring in Norway, the terminal in Larvik is slated for closure, affecting 40 employees.
