Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.

Van Geloven, a Dutch manufacturer of prepared snack foods such as Mora and Van Dobben, has announced the closure of three of its six production facilities, including the sites in Wijk bij Duurstede and Cuijk in the Netherlands, and Mol in Belgium. The closures will affect at least 142 employees in the Netherlands, although the company has not yet specified the exact nature of the job impacts. The restructuring aims to consolidate snack production at three remaining locations within the country, responding to rising inflation and a highly competitive market. Van Geloven, with annual revenues of approximately €300 million and around 1,100 employees, states that the measure is intended to ensure future growth and market strength. Consultations with works councils and trade unions are ongoing.
