Description
The Spanish supermarket chain Dia plans to create 600 new jobs in 2025. The company is accelerating its growth strategy, planning to open 45 new stores in the first half of 2025, aiming to reach 60 by year-end. This expansion forms part of its 2025–2029 strategic plan, which includes the launch of 300 new supermarkets in Spain. With annual investments projected between €150 and €180 million over the five-year period, the group expects to grow between 4% and 6% annually and create around 3,000 jobs in the whole period.
The new stores will adopt Dia’s proximity format, typically spanning 300 to 500 square metres, and will be located in both large cities and smaller towns to strengthen local presence. As of the end of 2024, Dia operated 2,302 stores in Spain, 95% of which have already been renovated. The group recently renewed its board of directors to support this expansion
