Description
Teleperformance, a French multinational group specialised in call centres, has announced an employment redundancy file (ERE) that could affect 321 employees across Spain, including 63 in its Barcelona office—making it the second most impacted location after Ponferrada, where 196 job cuts are foreseen. Other affected sites include A Coruña, Madrid, La Carolina (Jaén), and Sevilla. The measure, attributed by the company to organisational and productive reasons, primarily targets staff assigned to the Vodafone Tú a Tú and Verisure campaigns.
Negotiations did formally began on 30 May with the constitution of the negotiating committee. Trade unions CCOO and CGT have voiced strong opposition to the plan, emphasising that the company retains sufficient campaign volume to absorb the affected workers. CCOO has committed to working towards minimising job losses and ensuring any departures are voluntary and properly compensated, while CGT questions the justification for the dismissals altogether, asserting that no employee is superfluous. A month-long negotiation process is now underway.
The company already announced an internal restructuring plan in 2023, affecting 310 people Teleperformance 2023-ES
