Description
Dow Chemical, an American chemical company operating in the chemicals sector, is cutting 1,500 jobs globally.
As part of this restructuring, the company, announced 132 job cuts in the Netherlands: Dow Chemical 2025 - NL. The job losses affect its chemical manufacturing activities across the country and concern employees involved in the production of basic chemical products used for plastics. The redundancies apply to Dow’s Dutch operations as a whole, where the company has three sites.
The restructuring is driven by structural pressures affecting the chemical industry. High network and energy costs compared with other European countries, combined with overcapacity and increasing competition from Chinese producers, have weighed on profitability.
The company employs tens of thousands of people worldwide and is implementing cost‑cutting measures globally following a quarterly loss, with the Dutch redundancies forming part of this wider restructuring effort.
