The Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa, Finland, has announced large-scale cooperation negotiations affecting approximately 350 positions within its hospital services, involving around 7,000 staff across the region. These negotiations, initiated in October 2025, follow separate discussions in September 2025 for the staff in rehabilitation and psychosocial support services.
The restructuring is caused by budget overruns and the need to achieve total savings. At this stage, it is not yet determined how many job losses will result from direct dismissals versus changes to employment terms and duties, but the aim is to minimize impact on patient care.
Planned measures may include direct dismissals, reassignment, or modifications to employment contracts, but no final decisions have been taken.
The Wellbeing Services County of Pirkanmaa employs approximately 20,000 staff in total, including nearly 8,000 hospital employees.
