Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German facade construction company Roschmann Konstruktionen aus Stahl und Glas, based in Gersthofen, has filed for insolvency. This affects 100 employees at the Gersthofen site, who have already received termination notices. Only a small part of the 120 employees will remain to complete the ongoing projects. The company cites declining demand and delays in major projects as reasons for the insolvency which is reiterated by the insolvency administrator.
The sister company Roschmann Glas is being taken over by the Austrian firm Ertl Glas. As a result, the 50 employees there are not affected by layoffs. The remaining international subsidiaries in the US, the UK, and France are also not affected by the insolvency.
The Roschmann Group employs 300 people worldwide.
