Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
As announced on 11 November 2025, German plastics manufacturer REHAU plans to cut 203 jobs in its REHAU Building Solutions division in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Out of these, 101 positions are cut in Germany, with a large share in Erlangen (Bavaria).
The company aims to strategically realign due to the economic market situation and increase efficiency in organisation and administration across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region. Doing so, the company will withdraw from previous markets, mainly in Eastern Europe, and refocus its operations to ensure customer satisfaction.
The REHAU Group operates internationally with 160 locations worldwide. In Germany, Rehau has two main headquarters, located in Rehau and Erlangen. REHAU Building Solutions employs around 2,000 people worldwide. Other divisions of the company in Erlangen are not affected by the restructuring. Germany, as the company's largest market, will become its own sales division in the future.
