Description

The French group Philogeris, which specialises in managing accommodation for dependent elderly persons, was placed into judicial liquidation following a decision by the Paris Court of Economic Activities the 28th November 2025. Since 11 July 2024, the group had been placed under judicial receivership. Judicial receivership is put in place when a company's liquid assets are no longer sufficient to cover its debts, forcing it to file for insolvency with either the Commercial or Civil Court.

The ruling affects both the parent company and five of its care homes. Each of these establishments employs around 40 individuals are employed. This includes nurses, care assistants, and hospitality staff, who contribute to the daily care and support for the elderly.

The CGT trade union has criticised the Court's decision. In November, the court accepted a fragmented takeover offer from several companies, instead of a complete offer from an important association that would have guaranteed the group's survival and the retention of all 255 employees. The trade union criticised the court's judging the offers based on monetary superiority (by €152,000), despite the jobs cuts affecting six employees directly, and the uncertain situation of the remaining 249 employees.
