Description

Polytechnyl, the French subsidiary of the Belgian group Domo Chemicals, was placed in receivership by the Lyon Commercial Court on 8 January 2026, putting at risk 540 employees, 450 in Saint-Fons and 130 in Valence, in the Drôme region. A six-month observation period has been opened.

The decision follows the bankruptcy of the group’s three German subsidiaries at the end of 2025, which led to cash-flow difficulties and a temporary suspension of salary payments in December 2025, leading to the dismissals of 585 employees.

Social partners are involved: the central works council (CSE central) was consulted prior to the request for judicial restructuring, and union representatives from CGT and FNIC CGT have reacted publicly, highlighting concerns over the lack of financial transparency and criticising the group’s ownership strategy. Judicial administrators will work with management and social partners in the coming weeks to evaluate restructuring options

Previously, in March 2025, the company had announced a redundancy plan for 155 jobs, as recorded at the ERM Events database: [Polytechnyl 2025 - FR] (https://apps.eurofound.europa.eu/restructuring-events/detail/202516).

Updated, 27/04/2026: The Court has decided to choose the takeover by Lone Star, which maintains 72 of the 550 employees in the two sites. The offer does not cover facilities or land, but only the patents, brand, and commercial activities for a year. A trade union representative of the CFE-CGC stated in response that liquidation would have been better for employees. The investment fund aims to distribute 700 euros to employees being cut.
