M-real has started cooperation talks with the personnel of its Kirkniemi plant, 180 jobs are threatened. This is motivated by:
One part of the Kirkniemi plant will be closed according to the previous operative plans;
Restructuring in the maintenance activities will be carried out;
Economical reasons.

As an result of the cooperation talks with the personnel, 155 jobs will be cut. Reductions in labour force will be carried out e.g. by pension arrangements. No one will be dismissed directly. The timeline for job reduction will be lengthened to the end of 2006.
