Description
Sigma Coatings will abandon its 'coil' production line (industrial painting) which is transferred to another factory of the group, in Bochum, Germany. Management wants to start a procedure of collective redundancy (Renault procedure) but is in conflict with the unions for the age suggested for pre-pensions. Unions also fear that this reorganisation is a first step towards the total closing of the factory. Members of management were sequestered during several days in the offices of the company by angry workers. A social agreement was finally found between management and trade unions.
