European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Due to the crisis in the sector and in the frame of a corporate restructuring plan 'Impact2', Infineon announced the suppression of 900 jobs world-wide. The restructuring plan contains further decentralisation measures, downsizing and cost cutting in order to spare some 500 million euros in the next four years. Infineon had already suppressed 5000 jobs during the summer of 2001. 2400 employees are working for Infineon in Villach (Austria) and some 2700 in the whole country, the relocation of the AI branche (car and industrial electronics) in Villach could bring the creation of 70 new jobs.
October 2003. Infineon will employ 145 software developers from Siemens.
