European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
130 jobs are to be lost at Newcastle City Council as part of budget proposals that will lead to a council tax rise of no more than 2%. The 130 full-time jobs will be lost mostly in managerial, administrative and support services. It is hoped the cuts will be made mainly by natural wastage, redeployment and voluntary means. Kenny Bell from the public service union, Unison, said: ‘It is going to be a major challenge to cut 130 jobs in those areas. However, if there are any compulsory redundancies we will ballot for strike action.'
