Volkswagen has started building its new logistics centre for spare parts serving Eastern Germany. Eastern Germany thus becomes independent from the logistics centre in Kassel. Volkswagen is investing €50 million; one fifth of that sum will come as subsidies from the state of Brandenburg. The 350 jobs will mainly be to the benefit of the unemployed in the region, said Brandenburg premier Platzeck in the Tagesspiegel.
