Description
Express carrier and delivery company Curiero with head offices in Bucharest (Bucureşti region) announced in June 2005 an estimated turnover for 2005 of EUR 3.3 million, three times higher than in 2004. On July 2006 the company estimates a turnover for 2006 of EUR 10 million. In the first half of 2006 the turnover was worth EUR 3 million.
The company provides express carrier and delivery services, with a network of 50 agencies in large towns and cities across the country as well as its own transport and warehousing network.
As the local market for carrier and delivery services was dynamic and on the rise, in June 2005 Curiero planed to increase the number of employees from 500 to 1,000-1,100 by the end of the year. In fact, the number of employees increased to 600 by the end of 2005 and to 1,000 by the end of the first half of 2006.
On July 2006 the company estimates a new increase of the number of employees to 1,200 by the end of the year.
Curiero was set up in July 2003, with an initial investment of EUR 3 million. According to the statement of the manager of Curiero, Bogdan Cârcu, in 2006, the segment of private postal services is set to achieve the largest growth, with the business volume being estimated at EUR 5 million, half of the total business. According to recent estimates of the general secretary of Association of Operators of Courier Services in Romania (Asociatia Operatorilor de Curierat din Romania, AOCR) the private postal services market will total approximately EUR 130 million in 2006, so the market share of Curiero will be approximately 3.8%. Starting with 2006 the company provides also services of cargo (more than 300 kilograms). On this segment the market share of Curiero is approximately 10-15%.
