Description
The paper and packaging producer Stora Enso has announced that it will implement two competitiveness improvement programmes in Europe. Some 2,000 employees will be laid off as part of these plans, half of them white-collar. The company specified that slightly more than half of them would be in the Nordic countries and the rest elsewhere in Europe, but that no specific unit would be especially affected. The final personnel reduction number will be determined after the local negotiations are completed. Possible outsourcing might reduce the workforce by a further 600-700 people.
