Description
LKAB will invest 6 billion SEK in the building of a new plant in Kiruna. The investment includes a pelletising plant, a concentrating plant, haulage and terminal facilities as well as environmental improvements. Additional measures will be taken to increase the production in the mine and existing processing plants. The new plants will be built adjacent to the existing processing plants and will be operational in spring 2008. Some 120 jobs are expected to be created (30 in the mine, 80 in the new processing plants and 10 in the quality and infrastructure units). Development and construction work will begin as soon as procurement is completed. More than 800 people will be involved in the project until 2008.
