European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
GKN's automotive factory at Lichfield will shut because the firm has not recovered after being hit by the recent closure of Rover in the West Midlands, the company said. The factory is to close by the middle of 2006 with the loss of 175 jobs. Director of communications Peter Bailey said every effort would be made to relocate staff to one of its 10 other factories across the UK. The firm makes components for the small automotive industry at the plant.
