Description
Ford Aquitaine Industries (FAI), the French company which makes automatic gearboxes for the eponymous US car maker, will today present the results of the redundancy plan which it launched last October 2005. The company has, in fact, exceeded the plan's targets, with 444 posts vacated instead of the hoped-for 414. Some 285 workers have accepted early retirement, while 159 have opted for voluntary redundancy. The cut will be achieved by 161 pre-retirement measures aimed at workers of 57 years of age and more. Ford presently employs 2,340 people at Blanquefort.
