Vivendi, formerly Vivendi Universal, is a France-based media and telecommunications company that is active in the fields of music, interactive games, television, film and fixed and mobile telecommunications. Vivendi agreed with the Local Autorities (Pas-de-Calais), the Ministry of Finance to support areas affected by unemployment. In the frame of this agreement, the company announced on May 2006 it will create 1,000 jobs in Pas de Calais by the end of 2007. Vivendi currently does not have an activity in Pas-de-Calais, but will have created 1,000 jobs in the telephone sector for the end of the year 2007. Headquartered in Paris, France, Vivendi also has an American office in New York, and is present in 75 countries worldwide (Last Reported Employees: 38,889 ; 2006-03-31).
