European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust are to cut 300 jobs to tackle a deficit of more than £16m. The trust said cuts would be made by reducing use of bank and agency staff. Permanent staff would not be affected and there would be no redundancies. The trust issued a statement on Wednesday (31 May 2006)saying it was 'looking to mirror best practice nationally around the NHS'.
The statement said the trust would also ensure patients were discharged efficiently and did not spend time in hospital unnecessarily as part of measures to save £16.7m this financial year.
It was also looking at how services were provided across its three hospital sites in order to seek out and introduce the most modern practices with the ultimate goal of raising standards of care for patients and developing better ways of working for the staff. Posts will be cut by April 2007 at the three hospital sites. The trust employs about 4,800 staff.
