European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The German company Ruwel AG announced the intention to invest EUR 80 million in its first plant in Romania. The plant will be located in the industrial park Tetarom I Cluj Napoca and will create 600 new jobs.
Starting 2007, the company intends to produce integrated boards for the electrotechnics and motor vehicles industry in this new plant.
"Our intention is to recruit personnel from Romania and to train in Germany. We also want to open a research centre starting collaboration with Technical University (Universitatea Tehnică) din Cluj Napoca", stated Chairman of the Board Wilfried Sehner. The number of employees in the research centre is estimated to amount to 200 persons.
The President of the County Council Cluj, Marius Nicoară stated that the Ruwel investment is one of the biggest in the county and is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy.
The German company was established in 1945. In 2004, Ruwel's five plants in Germany realised a total turnover of approximately EUR 175 million with 1400 employees.
