European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Up to 1,100 posts are to be lost at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS (National Health Service) trust as it attempts to cut its pay bill by £18m, a trust spokesman has announced. The trust, which covers Dewsbury and Wakefield, estimates it will lose the positions over the next five years. The trust spokesman said it could make the savings through natural turnover and spending less on temporary staff. He said redundancies could not be ruled out, but it was hoped they would be kept to a minimum. The trust said it also wanted to reduce the amount spent on equipment while treating more patients in less time. Trust turnaround director Toby Lewis was also keen to stress that the posts could possibly be lost through a process of natural attrition and emphasised that a long term reduction in staffing levels had been announced rather than an immediate series of redundancies.
'We do need to reduce our pay bill by £18m over the next two years. We anticipate being able to achieve this without the need to make large-scale redundancies. However, we have been open that we cannot rule out redundancies at this stage and we are working with staff to keep them to a minimum.'
