European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Noos-UPC, one of the three cable and telephone operators in France (the other two: NC Numéricâble and France Telecom Cables) announced on 6 September 2006 at the meeting of the central works council ('comité central d'entreprise', CCE) that between November and December 2006, as many as 900 jobs (administrative, technical, ) could be lost. The company currently employs 1,300 people. The cable sector in France is undergoing a wild competition from the satellite in paying television and from telecommunications operators. In the coming months, Noos-UPC is aiming to develop its commercial actions and it is expecting to hire 150 salespeople.
