European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
About 200 new jobs are being promised with a budget airline's expansion in the north-east of England.
Jet2.com launched nine routes from Newcastle Airport in 2005 and is to operate a further four to Spain.
The firm will base two further aircraft at Newcastle and create 200 new jobs when services begin next Spring. The company claims passengers are moving from neighbouring Durham Tees Valley after rival operator bmibaby axed services earlier this month. Jet2.com said it hoped the expansion would appeal to overseas property owners looking for frequent low cost flights to Spain. Spokesman Philip Meeson said: 'We have added four fantastic new destinations and this, coupled with our expansion plans for the coming months, means we anticipate adding around 200 new jobs.'
'Of course, with bmibaby pulling its operation from Teesside, we anticipate even more passengers from the south of the region making the short journey north.'
Dave Laws, head of operations at Newcastle Airport, added: 'This is yet more good news for the region with more new destinations to complement our existing services from the Airport. The increase in low cost routes and frequency gives even more choice to our passengers.'
