European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Bayer, the German multinational pharmaceutical producer, has bought Schering, another German multinational pharmaceutical company. Due to this merger, Bayer will dismiss 800 employees in the United States and 600 in Europe. In Spain (where the company has 2,000 employees) it has announced on 27 November 2006 that it is to move the production from Madrid to Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona) and dismiss 160 employees.
