European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Clothing factory Pola has concluded its personnel negotiations affecting 145 workers in the factories in Lappeenranta and Helsinki. As expected in March, the negotiations lead to the closure of the Lappeenranta factory, which employed 129 workers. In addition, 10 jobs are to be cut at the Helsinki office. The negotiations ended on Monday 16 April and the reductions will take place at once.
Pola is a family business established in 1952. The range of business includes the design, production and marketing of women's indoor clothing, from underwear to t-shirts. All Pola products are made in Finland. The annual turnover of the company in 2004 was 10.6 million Euro, exports making up 60% of this.
