European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Motorola, one of the leading companies in mobile communications, is to cut 4,400 jobs worldwide. At the beginning of November 2008, the company announced the 2009-2011 reorganisation plan that envisages the introduction of new software technologies for mobiles and reduction of the operative costs with the loss of 3,000 jobs. On 4 February 2009, the company revised its restructuring plan and announced about 4,400 job cuts. Motorola has around 66,000 employees worldwide.
