European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
As a result of the merging of several public environmental institutions into the Estonian Environmental Board approximately 115 jobs are lost. The Estonian Environmental Board was formed by the merger of the State Nature Conservation Centre, the Radiation Protection Centre and fifteen county environmental departments. About 400 jobs were maintained but more than one hundred environmental officials were laid off. The aim of the merging exercise, which took place on the 1st February 2009, was to increase the efficiency of the services provided by cutting the duplicating tasks between the former institutions.
