Description
East Midlands Airport have announced that 250 jobs will be created following a new 10 year deal with the airline Jet2, which will create a base at the airport starting next spring. This will mean approximately 130,000 more passengers passing through the airport each year. Jet2 will have 1 Boeing 757 based there initially, with further investment and growth planned over the next 3 years. 80 of the new positions will be at the airport itself, with the rest spread across the region.
The airport's managing director Penny Coates said: "This news is a positive indicator for the future and puts East Midlands Airport in a strong position as we continue to extend and develop our route network."
No details were given on numbers currently employed by the company or the date by which the all new positions are expected to commence.
