European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On 10 August 2009, Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg county government decided to reduce the workforce at the local hospital in Nyíregyháza by 140 by 5 October 2009.
This is the consequence of the reorganisation of the medical unit's state funding scheme that has been in place since April 2009. The introduction of new regulations resulted in a monthly deficit of HUF 130-150 and threatened the hospital with insolvency.
Those affected by the decision are administrative and maintenance employees but no medical staff.At the same time, there is new legislation requiring the hospital to sign new contracts with all employees. 105 hospital workers rejected to accept these new contracts and will leave the hospital. Thus, the headcount will drop from 2720 to 2475.
