European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The machinery constructor Caterpillar has announced its plans to hire 500 workers until the end of 2010.
UPDATE on 26th August 2010
Caterpillar Belgium, the manufacturer of machinery and equipment based in Gosselies (Wallonia), declared that 400 permanent workers have been hired since the last two months, in order to face the increase in the production, and that they expect to hire 200 more workers before the end of September. Trade Unions are upset about the fact that many of this new jobs are supported by public subsidies (Activa-win win plan) while some units of production are still paralyzed by the "temporary unemployment" measure (one of the federal government's anti-crisis measure to support companies with difficulties).
