380 jobs to go as GlaxoSmithKline closes its research unit in Harlow, Essex. The losses come as projects for pain relief, anxiety and depression drugs end, and no further research is planned. The company says a consultation period is under way, and that to acheive a £500m saving by 2012 it would continue to restructure, but with a minimum of job losses. The firm announced a 12% rise in annual profit on 4 February 2010. No details were given regarding when the job losses would be completed by.
